A review of Ordu songs

One of the most important elements of the cultural phenomenon, which contains everything about the society, is folk songs. Folk songs, one of the oral products of folk literature, have certain tunes and serve as a bridge between generations. Folk songs sung in the face of events that deeply affect society, exist as a living tradition. The first aim of our thesis is to collect the texts of Ordu folk songs in one source and thus to contribute to Turkish folklore researches and to present a scientific source in this sense. In my study, one hundred and fifty seven lyrics were reached in our study through collecting lyrics of Turkish songs of Ordu region which are present in TRT Turkish Folk Music Repertory and written sources, and which were reached via source people. In this hundred and fifty-seven texts, all metered and unmetered folk song of the region of Ordu are found. These folk songs are examined in terms of their literary and musical aspects and they are classified in terms of shape, subject, melody and the areas in which they are used. In this study consists of six chapters. Information about the research area, such as the history, geographical characteristics and cultural status of Ordu, is given in the introduction, thus making the investigation more understandable. In the first chapter, the concept of folk songs and the history of folk songs are emphasized and general features of Ordu folk songs are given. The folk songs are classified in terms of their shape characteristics in the second chapter, their subjects in the third chapter and the areas in which they are used in the fourth chapter. In the fifth chapter, the musical features of the Ordu folk songs are given, while in the sixth and last chapter the folk songs texts which are sorted according to their shape features are given. In the last part of the study, the words of the region were given by dictionary study, all the folk songs in the study were listed in alphabetical order and presented with the index study.
