Evaluation of the impact of organizations digital maturity levels on business process performance: an analysi̇s wi̇th examples from di̇fferent sectors

This study addresses the phenomenon of digitalization, one of the most rapidly developing and globally debated topics today. Digitalization is a transformation process that is on the agenda not only of large-scale companies but also of small and medium-sized enterprises and public institutions. Supported by fairs, seminars, conferences, and workshops organized worldwide, this process leads to significant changes at both the economic and social levels. The main objective of the research is to comprehensively examine the digital transformation process, which has intensified over the last decade. The study analyzes the effects of digitalization on business processes by presenting examples from different countries and sectors, comparing the before and after. This reveals how digitalization has transformed organizational structures, economic developments, and social life. However, the study also discusses whether digitalization alone is sufficient. The findings show that digitalization cannot be treated as an independent process and that various supporting factors are needed for it to be successful. Artificial intelligence, big data analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous and intelligent systems, smart factories, and Industry 4.0 stages stand out among these factors. Within the scope of the thesis, these concepts are defined, and their historical development processes and current levels are explained in detail. The analysis section examines the software, applications, and technological tools used by organizations. In this context, the problems encountered before digitalization and the solutions achieved afterwards are evaluated comparatively. Thus, the improvements that digital technologies bring to business processes are presented in a concrete manner. One of the most noticeable outcomes of digitalization is the acceleration observed in the operations of public institutions and the increased efficiency of services provided to citizens. Now, an employee, patient, or job seeker can easily carry out government-related transactions without wasting time. This situation is a concrete demonstration that digitalization has created a major transformation not only for businesses but also for social life. In conclusion, digitalization is an inevitable process for both institutions and individuals today. However, its success depends not only on technological transformation but also on support from complementary elements such as artificial intelligence, big data, and Industry 4.0. In this respect, digitalization is considered one of the most important development dynamics of our age.
