Abstract (EN)

In this study, totally 75 ground and surface water, 54 surface soil samples were collected from the five districts of Bolu in summer season of 2009. In autumn season, 17 surface and ground water and 17 soil samples were collected just in the city center to observe the seasonal changes of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs). Ground and surface water samples were extracted by using solid phase extraction and soil samples were ultrasonically extracted. Concentrations of 19 OCP compounds were detected by gas chromatography-electron capture detector (GC-ECD). Method validation was performed to determine 19 OCP compounds. However, 13 OCP compounds can be observed in the samples. The concentrations of most OCPs were higher in samples taken in the summer than that in the autumn. Themost observed pesticides were endosulfan sulfate and 4, 4? DDT in ground water samples, ?-HCH in surface water samples, endosulfan sulfate in soil samples. Endosulfan sulfate also belonged to the highest average concentration in water and soil samples. Although the highest total concentration in soil samples and surface water samples were detected in Mudurnu, the highest total concentration in ground water was detected in Seben. The concentrations in soil and water samples had lower concentration values than literature values. Spatial distribution of OCPs were evaluated by the help of contuor maps in the five districts of Bolu. Generally, agricultural processes affected the water and soil quality in the region. However, nonagricultural areas were also affected by pesticides. The concentrations of pesticides were not exceeded the legal limits of Europen directives for each pesticides.
