Mediatory role of organizational trust in relationship between organizational nepotism and psychological ownership a case study in banking sector

Abstract (EN)

Nepotism has become one of the most important problems of our time. The perception of nepotism, which can be seen in all organizations, maintains its place in the agenda and directly affects the organizational elements. To what extent psychological ownership and organizational trust of the employees in the organizations are changing and how nepotism affects these concepts are being studied.Although nepotism is a subject that has been studied a lot in recent times, it has been observed that the studies on the subject of psychological ownership and organizational trust are not taken into consideration. This constitutes the original value of our study. In this study the effects of nepotism on organizations have been studied. As we tried to show the effects of nepotism on organizations, the relationship between organizationl elements and nepotism has been tried to be explained. The mediation effect of organizationl trust has been brought to the forefront with regards to the relation between psychological ownership and nepotism. In this context, 428 employees from banks in Istanbul were surveyed and the data were analyzed statistically. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Correlation Test Hayes Process Model and Sobel Test, t-Test "and" One-Way ANOVA Test. The results showed a correlation between the variables. In this relationship, it has been determined that the level of organizational trust and psychological ownership of bank employees exposed to organizational nepotism has decreased. When the mediation effect of organizational trust is examined, it is revealed that organizational trust is partial mediator in the relationship between organizational nepotism and psychological ownership. In addition, it was also determined that the organizational nepotism and organizational trust perceptions of the bank employees before starting to their jobs showed a significant difference in terms of having a friendship bond with the senior executives.
