The effect of organizational socialization on cyberloafing: An application in the automotive industry

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the organizational socialization levels of the employees of the automotive industry on virtual loafing. Cyberloafing is described as unwanted behavior that results in negative outcomes. The study is crucial for preventing these undesirable behaviors. In addition, as a secondary purpose, the study aims to reveal the relationship between demographic variables and employment duration and organizational socialization and cyberloafing. To that end, a survey was conducted among the employees of a company in the automotive industry. Survey form was comprised of three parts; demographic factors and employmemt duration info, organizational socialization scale and cyberloafing scale. The survey data collected from from 208 voluntary participants was analyzed through SPSS programme. T test, Anova analysis and correlation test were used to analyze the data. The analysis showed that there's no significant relationship between organizational socialization and cyberloafing. When the relationship between the organizational socialization and demographic factors and employment duration is examined; there is no significant difference other then gender and when the relationship between cyberloafing and demographic factors and employment duration is examined; differentiation by gender, educational status, employment duration at the company and overall employment duration was observed.
