Abstract (EN)

This study was attributed to ascertain the relationship between organizational citizenship behaviour and organizational silence of nurses working in public hospitals and mouth and dental health centres running in Kırklareli province. In the competitive environment of today's world, employees who voluntarily contribute to organization, take initiative, adopt their workplace and duties beyond their job descriptions are the most significant constituents of the system in health sector as in all other sectors. In today's enterprises and health sector, besides organizational citizenship behaviour, another important concept is employee's voice. Employees who have chosen to remain silent for a variety of reasons, or who have been silenced by managerial decisions and managers are one of the most important problems for businesses. In this study, as a tool of data analysis, questionnaire technique has been used. The collected data have been analysed in IBM SPSS Statistics 21 program. The population of the study consists of 469 people and no sampling method has been used. With the participation of 365 nurses (12,70% male, 82,30% female) to the study, the participation rate has been detected as 69.30%. Furthermore, it is confirmed that the internal consistency rate of the OCB scale has been 88.5%, and the internal consistency rate of OS scale has been found to be 82.5%. As a result of the correlation analysis, it has been found that there is a meaningful and negative relationship between organizational citizenship behaviour and organizational silence level (r: -0.176; p <0.01). This result shows that there is an inverse relationship between organizational citizenship behaviour and organizational silence. In other words, the levels of organizational silence of individuals who exhibits organizational citizenship behaviour have been decreasing. It is also possible to read this relationship in a reverse direction. Accordingly, the increase in the level of organizational silence decreases the employee's tendency to exhibit organizational citizenship behavior.
