Abstract (EN)

One of the writers of the 1950 generation, Orhan Duru is one of the important names of Turkish story writing. The author, who is mostly known as a story writer, also has a novel published posthumously, translations and adaptations, and essays. The author, who always wants to take Turkish storytelling one step forward, has a dynamic understanding of art in line with this purpose. The author has tried to popularize the use of genres such as science fiction and fantasy, which are mostly encountered in novels in Turkish story writing. This study aims to identify and analyze the fantastic elements in the author's stories and novel. For this purpose, first of all, the definition of the fantastic, its place in literature and its development are emphasized. Fantastic, like other social concepts, is not a concept with a single and clear definition in literature. Each researcher and critic has defined the fantastic differently. For this reason, in the first part of the study, these definitions and criticisms are given and how the fantastic will be handled is mentioned. After this examination, Orhan Duru's life, and his understanding of art are given and finally, the fantastic elements in his works are determined. As a result of the study, it was determined that Orhan Duru uses fantastic elements.
