Abstract (EN)

Orhan Kemal is one of the most important representatives of the social realist understanding. He has taken an important place in our literature with his novels and stories. Social problems such as poverty, economic inequality, income injustice and unemployment are at the forefront in most of his stories. The author tells the world of ordinary people , who have social and economic inequalities, with social sensitivity. He gives a social message in most of his stories. Orhan Kemal narrated the inequalities between social classes based on the social realist understanding in his stories. Children, women, handicapped and the elderly people who need to be discriminated are exposed to inequality in the author's stories. Child and woman as labor, which is seen as low-cost labor are subjected to social and economic inequality in all areas of social life in the stories. In this study, stories of Orhan Kemal were analyzed in the context of social and economic inequality. It was aimed to understand the author's attitudes towards the issues he told in his stories with social sensitivity and to determine the social and economic inequalities faced by the story characters.
