Urban perception in Orhan Pamuk's novels

Orhan Pamuk, who has a considerable amount of readers both at home and abroad and has made a name for himself among the novelists of recent years due to his novel approach, ideas and political thoughts, used the city, urban culture and the problems of the urban individual in his novels. In this study – titled “Urban Perception in Orhan Pamuk's Novels” - the concept of city is first examined in detail in the historical development process and the relation between novel and city in the context of the sociology of literature was emphasized, also by analyzing some basic concepts related to the city, the contribution they provide to the formation of urban culture has been tried to be explained. In this study, the view of Orhan Pamuk on the city and urban culture was scrutinized by examining the autor’s novels, and based on this; the effects of concepts, like city, urbanization, urbanization, urban change and transformation, city and poverty, city and crime, city and economy, migration phenomenon, city and religion, city and civilization, urban and social classes, urban and alienation, on the author's sentiment has been traced.
