Özet (EN)

This research aims to examine the unpublished music history work of Orhan Tanrıkulu, who was also the director and artistic director of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, and to evaluate the contributions of this work to the discipline of music history in our country and its importance in terms of musicology. Orhan Tanrıkulu's unpublished music history work is a comprehensive study that examines the history of classical Western music by also taking into account the musical cultures of different geographies. Written in the mid-1980s, the work examines the evolution of music from the beginning of human history and offers an in-depth look at both Western and Eastern music. This work by Tanrıkulu can be considered as an important reference source in terms of both musicology and music history in our country where there are very few original copyrighted works that cover the history of classical Western music in its entirety (apart from translations). In this thesis, Tanrıkulu's findings on music history are examined comparatively with copyrighted books with similar characteristics, the common and different aspects between them are evaluated, and the contributions of these findings to the literature are also discussed. In the research, a qualitative research method was used, document scanning and descriptive analysis were made with the interview technique. Keywords: Music history, Orhan Tanrıkulu, duplication, conductor.
