Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study, "Middle Income Trap" explaining, the concept is evaluated in terms of Turkey's middle-income trap. In study, by mentioning the middle income trap risk of the countries are the countries in the trap. In terms of Turkey's economy middle income trap handled of and in Turkey 26 Level 2 region 2004 - 2017 period taking of data of the regional and sectoral distribution were identified middle-income trap regions is risk. Based on data for the 1988 - 2018 period with, descriptive analysis, middle-income trap realization probability and of social and economic indicators which are effective in avoiding this situation are made compared in Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea. Turkey has reached the lower-middle income level in 1955, but 50 years later, was promoted to upper-middle income level in 2005.It has been at this level for about 14 years. Research results, Turkey's economy is entering into the middle income trap is high risk, to move to high income group it is concluded that the policy should be implemented by considering regional development differences in the country and it depends on the structural transformation in the economy.
