Âmid (Diyarbakır) in Medieval

Âmid (Diyarbakır) is one of the most important cities of the medieval Islamic World. It is one of the most intense and powerful cities in terms of population, culture and civilisation of the region of Diyârbekir. It has a vivid history with it magnificent walls and reflects an annual historical heritage of thusands of years. As an example, it reflects of the understanding of medieval Islamic city in the best form. Our thesis is written fort his purpose and aims to make a contribution to the historical story of the phenomenon of the city of Islam in general. In this study that titled Âmid (Diyarbakır) In Medieval, it was taken as a bases the city's geographical position and additionally its political geograpgy. On this basis, the political adventure of Âmid and the transformations in the historicak process were studied. Finally, it was tried to be put forward a general framework about the social, cultural and economical history of the city. In this context, historical artifacts which are still present in the city are listed, and the historical texture of Âmid is given.
