Prester John in the records of the Europan travelers in the middle ages

In this study, we tried to compile the records of Prester John, which is very common in the records of medieval European travelers. In this context, the travels of Johann de Plano Carpini, Benjamin Tudela, Willem Rubruck, Jean de Joinville, Marco Polo, Odoric Pordenone, Sir John Mandaville and Pero Tafur were examined under separate titles and their records about Prester John were collected. With the exception of the first Crusade, the struggles with Christian Europe and the Turkish-Islamic states often resulted in defeat, and this myth was put forward in order to revive the spirit of the Roman Crusade in order to revive the spirit of the invasion of the Mongols and to support other Crusades against Muslims. According to the myth of the Papacy, the priest named Prester John was a Christian and had a tendency to unite against Catholic Europe and Muslims. Prester John and the Christian world, looking for evidence of the existence of his country, have played a major role in this quest. Because these travelers who traveled to other lands with various duties sometimes taken by the Papacy and sometimes by the sects investigated the existence of Prester John and included the information about this king in his travels.
