The opinions of the teachers who work at public high schools about the appointment of school principal

This study, is aimed to find out the theachers' opinion who work at the high schools about appointmet of school managers. This study which is related to survey model has been carried out via mixed research method, quantity and quality techniques are both used together. The participants consist of 278 teachers who are choosen by using stratified samling and simple random sampling techniques and they work at different high schools in Aksaray in 2015- 2016 education year .the data of this research are gathered by using the views of the teachers who work at high schools about appointments of school managers scale that is developed by the researcher. The quantity data results analysed by social sciences packet programme 23.the Standard deviations and arithmetic means of answers of teachers to the options in the scale are calculated.the wievs of the teachers about the appointments of school manager are sorted out whether they change depending on the demographic factors with t-test and one way analysis of variences (ANOVA) in the first dimension and Mann Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis H tests in the second dimension. In the qualitative stage research, data by the open ended questions are subjected to content analyses. According to the research results, the views about the appointment of school managers of the teachers who work at the state high schools are " highly agree'' in the academic features dimension and ''totally agree'' individual features dimension. To the teachers,in the appointments of school managers, the individual features are more important than academical features. The views about the appointment of the school managers of teachers who work at the high schools dont differentiate sharply depending on the age,gender, seniority and educational background in academical features dimensions.When it comes to individual features dimension, the views about the appointment of school managers of the participants differentiate meaningfully, but they dont differentiate according to age and seniority features statisticly. Nearly half of the teachers think that the appointment of school managers should be done by Ministry of National Education and most of them support rotation. Nearly half of the participants think that 4- 6 years are suitable for the rotation duration.On the other hand, nearly half of the participants are opposed to interview, the other half of them support interview. Most of the teachers who are opposed to interview are worried about that there would be no justice in interview and the most important things in the appointment of school managers should be merit and justice.
