Students' views on divan literature in secondary education: Sample of-Çorum city center

The literary works of Divan Literature period improve the cognitive abilities of our students with the method of examination and create a sense of beauty in the stu-dents. However, nowadays Divan literature and traditions of this literary period seem like it is losing some value for some reason and our students are alienated to the lan-guage, form features and expression forms of this literature. In this research titled "Students' Views on Divan Literature in Secondary Educa-tion: The Case of Çorum Provincial Center", the thoughts about Divan Literature settled in the memory of our students have been determined. In this sense, a questionnaire based on the Likert scale was prepared based on the assumptions about the perception of Divan Literature in order to identify the prob-lems. The students who were in the tenth grade of secondary education who had studied Divan literature were asked questions about Divan literature and data were collected. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS software and frequency fractions and percentages of these data were determined. In the first part of the thesis which consists of two sections, while giving infor-mation about the general aspects of the research; in the second part, the general results related to the research are explained. At the end of the examination, it became clear that the most striking points which influence the students' interpretation of the Divan literature are the difficulties in understanding the dialect of the relevant period.
