Investigation of the secondary school students' cyber bullying and aggressiveness on the internet levels towards social media attitudes: Çekmeköy sample

The aim of the study that is prepared is to study the relation between the social media behaviors of middle school students and their situations related to cyber bullying and to be subjected to cyber bullying. The population is consisted of the 779 students that study in private and public middle schools that carry out their activities with being subjected National Education Directorate, in 2014-2015 academic year. When the findings of the research was evaluated, as the result of the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Analysis that has been conducted in order to determine the relation between the Social Media Attitude Scale sub-dimension and total points, and Cyber Bullying and Aggressiveness on the Internet Scanning Scale sub-dimensions, a positive, meaningful relation between Social Media Attitude Scale total points and Cyber Bullying and Aggressiveness on the Internet Scanning Scale sub-dimensions. A positive meaningful relation was found between Social Competence and the Need to Share in Social Media Attitude Scale sub-dimensions and Being Subjected to Cyber Bullying and Being A Cyber Bully in Cyber Bullying and Aggressiveness on the Internet Scanning Scale sub-dimensions. A negative meaningful relation was found between Social Isolation sub-dimension of in Social Media Attitude Scale and Being Subjected to Cyber Bullying and Being A Cyber Bully in Cyber Bullying and Aggressiveness on the Internet Scanning Scale sub-dimensions. With this conducted research, the relations that were revealed were analyzed very thoroughly and various suggestions for solutions and protection methods were made.
