The effect of high school administrators' cultural leadership roles on decision making strategies

Thepurpose of thisstudy is toexamine"Theeffect of highschooladministrators' culturalleadershiproles on decisionmakingstategies". Furthermore, theeffects of variables, such as gender, types of school,educationalstatus, whetherattending in service trainingaboutleardershipanddecisionmakingon participatorswereexamined. Thepopulationandsample of thestudy is comprised of teachersandadministrators of secondaryschools in Afyonkarahisar. Out of 700 questionnaires, whicharedeliveredto 19secondaryschools, 307questionnaires arecollectedand301onesareseento be usefulforthestudy. Inthefirstpart of thescaledeliveredtotheparticipantspersonaldemographicinformation is requested. Inthesecondpart of thescale "CulturalLeadershipQuestionnaire" (Yıldırım, 2001) having 21 itemswhosereliabilityandvaliditytestedbeforehand is used. Moreover, in thethirdpart of the"DecisionMakingStrategies" (Kuzgun, 1993) having 40 itemsand 4 subdimensions (logicaldecisionmakingstrategy, impulsivestrategy, independentdecisionmakingstrategy, indecisiondecisionmakingstrategy)whosereliabilityandvaliditytestedbeforehand is used. School administratorsandteachersareaskedtofill in thegivenquestionnaires. Afactorandreliabilityanalysis is conductedfordeterminingthestructuralvalidity ofthesurveysused in thestudy. Internalconsistencycoefficientvaluecalculatedforreliabilitystudy is foundto be α =0.95. Theresults of reliabilitystudiesshowthatsurveysusedforthestudyhavereliability. Foranalyzingthedata; independentt test, onewayanaova,KolmogrovSmirnovtest, Kruskall Wallis H test and Mann Withney U testsareused. At theend of theresearch, it can be concludedthatthere is a mediumlevel, positiveandmeaningfulrelationshipbetweentheculturalleadershiproles of schooladministratorsandtheirdecisonmakingstrategies(r=0.505).
