A research on skills of occupational school students

In this research, level of basic skills of occupational schools students in secondary education was evaluated. The research is oriented towards to expand productivity and effective mess on occupational technical educational system in secondary level. To reach this aim it was looked for answers following questions; a- To what extent occupational school students have basic skills? And b- How much occupational schools affects to earn basic skills of students? On the basis of these it was aimed to eliminate lack of basic skills. To prepare questionnaire, opinion of teachers and students in vocational-technical schools was taken. Then the questions were inspected by experts. According to inspection results, the questionnaire was corrected and applied to a pilot survey. Based on all of the these results, the questionnaire was formed in a final form. Research universe is occupational school students in Afyonkarahisar city center. Questionnaires were applied to a total of 682 students at two Industry Occupational High Schools, two Girls Occupational High Schools, a Commerce-Tourism Occupational High School and a Occupational Training Center in Afyonkarahisar city center. Data were analyzed by SPSS Packet Program for Windows. Following results were found in the research; 1- Results found in the research is to call attention to findings, 2- While Commerce-Tourism Occupational High School students agree with all of the basic skill opinions, Occupational Training Center students are undecided about all of the basic skill opinions, 3- Opinion of Industry Occupational High School students and Girls Occupational High School students are to supports each other, 4- It was seen that all of the occupational high school students agree with Democratic Citizenship Skills.
