Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of education applications based on SCAMPER technique on the students' academic achievement, motivation and attitudes in the simple machinery unit of the science classes in the 8th grade students. In this research, a quasi-experimental design using quantitative research methods has been used. The sample of the study consists of 33 students studying in 8th grade in Ortaköy district of Aksaray in 2018-2019. In the study, simple sampling has been used. The experimental group students were given SCAMPER Applications in simple machines unit for four hours a week for a total of 16 hours, and the lessons were conducted with the control group students in accordance with the curriculum. In order to collect data within the framework of the research, a collection of forms such as "The Attitude Scale for Science Course", "Motivation Scale for Science Learning", "Simple Machines Achievement Test", "SCAMPER Technique Activitiy Form" and" SCAMPER Interview Form" have been utilized. As a result of the study, the academic achievement and motivation of the experimental group students in which SCAMPER applications were performed in the simple machinery unit of the science course, showed a significant difference compared to the control group. There was no significant difference between the attitude scores of the experimental group and the control group students. When the answers given by the students to the activity form are examined, it is seen that the SCAMPER technique enables the students to realize their own learning, and they reveal the original ideas by associating the information they have learned with each other. In addition, the results obtained from the interview form indicated that the students were positive in terms of development of technique and creativity. According to the results, it can be said that the use of SCAMPER technique in science courses contributes to students' creative thinking skills.
