The reason why individuals cannot find a place in social life and have adaptation problems is the fact that they live disconnected from their traditions and their own culture. Because when a person grows up with the norms of the environment he lives in, he develops a harmonious personality. For this reason, it is thought that the negative events that we encounter in social life have a great share in the person's growing up far from his own culture. When the Turkish geography is taken into consideration, the concept of "Türkü" emerges as folk music. Every nation has many cultural elements that contribute to gaining a national identity. One of them is undoubtedly folk music. In addition, Turkish culture, which has a rich accumulation of folk songs from the past to the present, has revealed the necessity of researching whether folk songs are used enough in educational tools in the literature review we have done. In this research, it is aimed to investigate the place of folk songs in secondary school textbooks in cultural acquisition and value transfer, and the contribution and effect of the education given to the life and education of secondary school students. It is possible to observe that our children, who are the guarantee of our future, have undergone a cultural degeneration with the adoption of foreign-origin music, especially among the young generation. This situation, which is caused by the fact that the members of the family, where the child starts to acquire his first gains, do not give enough importance to the transfer of culture, causes difficulties in terms of forming a "National Identity" for the age group where the education is given. In this study, it is aimed to take into account the deficiencies identified while creating the textbooks. It is thought to be very important for our education system, which aims to raise a generation that can protect its national values.
