Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to reveal the value orientation and sportsmanship behaviors of middle school students in physical education and sports lessons. In this study, descriptive model has been used in quantitative research model. The universe of the research consists of the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade 131,729 secondary school students studying in the state schools of Antalya province in the 2019-2020 academic year. In order to choose the research sample, schools that operate in many branches of school sports were determined by purposeful sampling method, and the sample of 595 secondary school students has been formed. In the data collection process of the research, two scales has been applied to the students: Personal Information Form, Physical Education Lesson Value Orientation Scale of Yıldız and Güven (2013), and Physical Education Course Sportsmanship Behavior Scale (BEDSDÖ) of Koç (2013). The three values that students think they gain in physical education and sports class are friendship, responsibility and patience. The value orientation and sportsmanship behaviors of middle school students show statistically significant differences according to gender, grade level, doing sports and school success.
