Examination of secondary school students attitudes to physical education and sports class according to the hours offered in the course schedule

The aim of this study; It examines whether secondary school students' attitudes towards physical education and sports lessons have an effect according to the time in the curriculum. 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students from Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Secondary School in Istanbul/Pendik District in the 2021-2022 academic year participated voluntarily. Two separate data collection tools were used in the study. The first of the data collection tools is the 10 question personal data form, which includes the demographic information of the participants, created by the researcher. On the other hand, the "Physical Education Attitude Scale" consisting of 35 questions developed by Güllü and Güçlü (2009) was used to determine the attitudes of the participants towards the Physical Education lesson. The obtained data were arranged in Microsoft Excel for statistical processing. Since the data analyzed with the SPSS package program showed normal distribution, the "Independent Sample T-Test" was applied in paired group comparisons and the 'One-Way Analysis of Variance" test was applied in multi-group comparisons. The results were interpreted according to the significance level of p<.005. When the results of the analysis were examined, it was determined that the attitudes towards the course in the first semester increased to the level of indecision, and the average of the second semester increased to the level of agree. By making changes in the second semester curriculum, the lessons given in the first hours of the first semester were taken to the last hours of the curriculum in the second semester. This change contributed to the development of a positive attitude towards physical education in the second semester. It has been determined that there is a significant difference between the attitudes of the students towards the Physical Education lesson depending on the time of the day.
