Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed; to examine the scientific process skills and the levels of disciplined mind characteristics of secondary school 7th and 8th grade students and the relationship between them. The sampling of the research, selected by the easily accessible sampling method, consists of 659 students who continue their education in the 7th and 8th grades in public schools in the central district of Afyonkarahisar in the 2020-2021 academic year. Descriptive research design and relational survey method were used in the research. 'Scientific Process Skills' and 'Disciplined Mind Field' scales were used as data collection tools. In order to determine the scientific process skills of the students, the 'Scientific Process Skills Scale' (SCI) developed by Aydoğdu (2012) was used. The Disciplined Mind Field Scale (SCAS) developed by Can Aran and Senemoğlu (2014) was used to determine the disciplined mind characteristics of the students. In the analysis process of the data obtained in the research, frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), LSD test, Tamhane's T2 test and simple and partial correlation analysis were used. According to the results of the research, students' scientific process skills were which is a moderate level; and also it was determined that the disciplined mind characteristics were which is the level of 'Most of the time'. The significant difference was found in students' scientific process skills in terms of gender, grade level, mother's education level, father's education level, family income level, science achievement level, frequency of watching TV. Moreover, the significant difference was found in the disciplined mind characteristics of the students in terms of grade level, science achievement level, TV watching and internet usage frequency variables. It was determined that there was a positive and significant relationship between students' scientific process skills and their disciplined mind characteristics. It is suggested to carry out activities to increase students' scientific process skills and disciplined mind characteristics and to contribute to the literature on Gardner's mind characteristics.
