Examination of political literacy levels of secondary school students

The purpose of this study is to identify the level of politicial literacy of secondary school students in terms of various variables. The survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study. The sample of the study consisted of 834 secondary school students in the city center of Ağrı in the 2020-2021 academic year. In this study, which was conducted to examine the politicial literacy levels of secondary school students, the ''Politicial Literacy Scale'' developed by Aslan (2019) was used. Before the data collected from the scales were analysed, Skewness and Kurtosis coefficients, z scores and p-p graphs wereexamined to ensure normality. The data obtained by using the Personal Information From and the Politicial Literacy Scale in the research were analyzed through the statistical program. In the analysis of data, it was analysis of the data was made accordingto the context of the sub-objectives of the research. ''Independent Sample t-Test'' in paired groups for the analysis of secondary school students ''Politicial Literacy Levels and the sub-dimensions of the scale ''Politicial Behavior'', ''Perception of Political Knowledge'', ''Following the Agenda'' and ''Awareness of Human Rights'' according to democraphig variables and ''One-Way Analysis of Narcissism(ANOVA)'' tests were used in multiple groups. ''Post-hoc (multiple) comprasions'' tests were used to determine between which groups the significant difference was as a result of ANOVA. Among these tests, the ''Scheffe test'', which is widely used in research, was used. According to the results of the data obtained, it has been determined that the ''Political Literacy'' levels of the secondary school students are at an intermediate level. It has been found that the levels of ''Political Behavior'', which are sub-dimensions of political literacy, are low, and the levels of ''Perception of Political Information'', ''Following the Agenda'' and ''Awareness of Human Rights'' are moderate.
