Teachers' impact on loyalty to the class of middle school students

The elements of teaching learning environment are teachers, students, groups of friend, school administration, the family and the technological equipments. Although these factors affect the level of commitment to students in different sizes,classroom with the teacher-student relationshipisa fact that creates a greater impact on the quality of education compared to othertypes of relationships. The environment in whichteachersprovidestudents' academic needs fulfilling their social, emotionaland behavioral problemsare the most suitable environmentto developan effective teacher-student relationshipin the classroom and this type of class environment develop a sense of belonging respectively to the class and the school as well asa positive feeling respectively about the class, school and the education. It is a known fact that since the students spend the majority of their time with teachers and friends at school, teacher-student relationship compared to other types of relationships has a greater effect on the quality of education and students' academic achievement. In a number of studies a positive relationship has been demonstrated between the positive relationships established with the teachers and the student's academic success, motivation, academic self-sufficiency and well-being. In this study, a questionnaire was applied to 419 students attending to 6th, 7th and 8th grades at the private and public elementary schools chosen from Ümraniye district in Istanbul province between the dates of 1 January 2014 and 14 January 2014 to review teacher's role in student's commitment to the class. As a result of our study it is found out that democratic relations prevail between theteachers and students both in public and private schools but there is also a domineering structure in terms of the order in the class.
