Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to examine the sustainable consumption behaviours of the secondary school students participating in the research in terms of various variables (gender, class level, family income level, mother's education level, father's education level, academic achievement level and region of residence). Stratified sampling method, one of the random sampling methods, was used to determine the study group of the research. The study group of the research consists of 1508 secondary school students (777 female, 731 male) attending 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades in a total of 9 schools (6 in the city centre and 3 in rural areas) in the central district of Aksaray province. The survey model was used in the study. The triple Likert-type 'Sustainable Consumption Behaviour Scale' developed by Eğrikaya (2023) was used as a data collection tool. The data were analysed with SPSS 22 software. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). In the light of the findings obtained from the research, it was determined that the sustainable consumption behaviours of the secondary school students participating in the research did not differ significantly according to family income level, mother's education level and region of residence. According to the gender variable, sustainable consumption behaviour was found significant in favour of female students. When the class level variable was examined, it was determined that sustainable consumption behaviour decreased as the class level increased. It was determined that students whose father's education level was secondary school showed sustainable consumption behaviours at a higher level than other students. Considering the level of academic achievement, the sustainable consumption behaviour of students with a grade point average between 86-100 points was significantly higher. As a result of the data obtained, it is recommended to examine the sustainable consumption behaviour of students in terms of different provinces, education level and variables.
