Abstract (EN)

If we can begin focusing on personal hygiene and move towards environmental hygiene, this will help us to create a sustainable development and furthermore increase individuals environmental sensitivity. It's important that an individual understands the importance of their own personal hygiene. It is assumed that individuals who are sensitive to their own personal hygiene standards will also have a greater sensitivity towards environmental hygiene. Individuals who are sensitive to environmental cleanliness will aid in increasing environmental habitability. This study attempted to determine whether secondary students gender, age, residential area, parent education levels, property of residence, shower frequency and hand-face washing frequency has any effect on environmental hygiene sensitivity. This study was conducted between 2018-2019 school terms, in a rural school and a central school around the province of Agri, in Turkey. There were in total 360 participants. Mann Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis statistical analysis tests were used to analyze the data collected. Surveying, a branch of descriptive analyses was used to collect the data. Environmental knowledge test, environmental attitude test and cleanliness tests (shower and hand washing frequency) were used to analyze the relationship between the variables. The results of the study indicate that individuals gender has a significant effect towards environmental attitude however socio-economical makeup, location of residence, hand-face washing and showering frequency doesn't have a significant effect on environmental attitude. However a significant effect was discovered between environmental knowledge and gender, socio-economical make-up, parents education levels and location of residence. In addition, hand-face washing and showering frequency does not have a significant effect on environmental knowledge.
