Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the skills in the Social Studies curriculum in the context of the activities included in the Social Studies textbooks taught as textbooks in the 2021-2022 academic year. The study was conducted using document analysis, which is a qualitative research method. The universe of this study was determined as the 5th, 6th and 7th grade textbooks used in secondary schools in the 2021-2022 academic year, which were approved as textbooks by TTKB. The sample of this study consists of a total of seven Social Studies textbooks, 5th grade ATA Publishing and MEB Publications, 6th grade ANADOL Publishing and MEB Publications, 7th grade EKOYAY and two of the MEB Publications. Data collection tools were selected according to criterion sampling, one of the purposive sampling methods. The criterion in the study is that the activities in the 5th, 6th, and 7th grade textbooks taught in the 2021-2022 academic year are directly stated. Research data were analyzed by content analysis. In this study, the sub-dimensions of the skills aimed to be gained in the Social Studies curriculum at the 5th, 6th and 7th grade levels were determined from the conceptual framework in the literature, and its consistency with the activities in the 5th, 6th and 7th grade Social Studies textbooks was examined. A total of 473 activities in seven textbooks, two at the 5th grade, two at the 6th grade and three at the 7th grade, were examined. The activities were analyzed to meet the skills to be given directly in the learning areas. Keywords: Social Studies, Textbook, Activity, Skill
