Özet (EN)

Thought is the first action genrating the word. People always want to state their emotions and thoughts in an affective and meaningful way. In this regard, some words refer more than their volumes. These are called as wise sayings. Wise saying may also mean telling more with less.When we look over wise sayings we come across proverbs, phrases and bywords. Proverbs are the stereotyped words that are anonym and advising. There are proverbs that can explain the events that people live through. And people use them in every situation to state their emotions and opinions.When we look over phrases we see that they are also the words explaining people's opinions and emotions.Phrases are used in their figurative meanings. Bywords resemble to proverbs as form and meaning. They are nearly the same but there is a very imporntant difference between themthis difference makes them different. The different is that; proverbs are anonyms but bywords are not and its author is stated just after the byword.This three concept that adding a specific meaning to Turkish are both used in daily life and in the classes thanks to the Turkish texbooks.In this study, from the passages, proverbs, phrases and bywords that help to state emotions and opinions in secondary school 5th 6th 7th and 8th textbooks will be evaluated by categorizing and determining their frequency Key Words: Idioms, Proverbs, Adages.
