Abstract (EN)
This research was done to analyze " The Competency of the Secondary Schools in Providing Social Skills".The seventh and eighth grades students of the secondary schools of Kartal and Maltepe Towns of İstanbul City, in 2014-2015 education period consist of the scope of this research.The research was applied om five hundred and fifty eight students within the scope.Research data was collected through a social skills survey.Data which was obtained by the survey was analysed with the SPSS package software.Frequency and percentage distribution of the data in the first and second parts of the survey were taken;and their arithmetic mean and standard deviation values were found.The "t test" and "the one sided variance analyze" were done to analyze the relations between the questions in the second part of the survey and the data in the first part. As a result of research;in the findings which were obtained from the school types,class levels,social skills in subjects,no differences were found among the social skill levels of the students.Concerning the selection of the lessons in which social skills are provided,it has been found that the social skill levels are higher for the persons who prefer the language lesson as the first cholce compared to the ones preferring them in the lower ranks and for the persons who choose physical education lessons in the lower ranks compared to the ones preferring them as the first cholce.Moreover,social skill levels of the female students are higher compared to the male students.Significant relations have been seen between the veriables and some of the survey questions.
