The author, who is known with his historical-psychological novels, combines the different ends of popular novel culture. Gürmen's experiences are used in development of his approach. He shapes his fiction based on the factual plane of the truth particularly in the novels where he discusses historical issues. He writes his novels after deep research and eliminates any element that could confuse the audience. He mainly focuses on the inner processes of the individual in his stories. Narrators observing people in different corners of Paris reflect their own mental states based on the things they have seen. Most of the characters in these stories are alienated individuals rebelling against their environment and pursuing a new path. The stories are mostly based on the freedom-captivity contrast and they are stories of situations. Gürmen, who is a unique author with his ability to write both in Turkish and French, successfully uses the methods and techniques of narration when creating his artistic style.
