Digitalization in the Osmaniye local press: Opportunities, challenges, solutions

This study examines the digitalization process of the local press in Osmaniye and investigates the challenges faced by local media across Turkey. The research utilizes data obtained from interviews with representatives of the local press in Osmaniye, analyzed through qualitative research methods, specifically case study design and content analysis. The theoretical framework of the study is based on a literature review of the social history of communication and the digitalization process. The findings reveal that the local press in Osmaniye lacks the necessary infrastructure for digitalization. In addition to infrastructural deficiencies, structural issues such as a shortage of qualified personnel and economic difficulties pose significant barriers to digital transformation. Nevertheless, digitalization presents important opportunities for the local press in Osmaniye. Notably, the potential to reach a broader audience and achieve economic sustainability highlights digitalization as a promising opportunity. In conclusion, the study aims to analyze the general trends and challenges in the digitalization process of local media in Turkey, using Osmaniye as a case study. By evaluating the current state of the local press alongside the opportunities offered by digitalization, the research seeks to develop recommendations and solutions for the sector.
