Minig operations in the Ottaman State: İvrindi Antimone Mine Enterprise (1880-1920)

In this study, firstly, a general literature review about the operation of the mines in the Ottoman Empire will be made, and then researches on the Antimony mines that were mined in the İvrindi region of Balıkesir will be included. The aim of this research is to deal with the operation of the mines in the İvrindi region, to determine its effects on the social and economic life of Ivrindi, and also to contribute to the studies in the field of 19th century Ottoman socio-economic history. The limits of this study are the activities related to the antimony mines in the İvrindi region between 1880 and 1920. During the study process, especially archival documents, written and visual works and other research works related to the period were used. The descriptive method was used in the study. This study consists of three main parts. In the first part, a research has been made about "Ivrindi History". In the second part, the subject of "Mining in the Ottoman Empire" is discussed. In the third chapter, the main subject of our thesis, "Antimony Mine in İvrindi Township" has been studied.
