District Sivrihisar under domination of the Ottoman Empire

Sivrihisar, the largest province of Eskişehir, has been home to many civilizations throughout the history. Persistent its existance from 1200 BC, Sivrihisar has been carried many cultural and historical heritages from the Frigians, the Romans, the Byzantinians, the Seljuks and the Ottoman Empire to the day. It has never lost its central importance due to its geographical position and continued to develop. Today it is still a remarkable town with its historical places, original architecture, significant historical characters and original cultural texture. In this study, the history, geography, historical characters and architectural works of Sivrihisar have been investigated. The thesis consists of an introduction and four chapters. Based on especially the Ottoman period, a detailed research was reaziled about which civilizations have been founded in Sivrihisar district that is existing from the premedieval era and about its geographic location. A general information related to Sivrihisar was presented by interpreting of the Salnames of Ankara of that period. Historically major figures who grown up in the province and in which important positions of the Ottoman Empire they served, were searched. Also a brief information was given about architecturel works and historical places of the province which is rich in historical structures.
