vi ABSTRACT THE CONSTRUCTION OF AYASOFYA IN THE WRITINGS OF OTTOMAN SCHOLARS SARI, Hüseyin Master Thesis, Department of History Thesis Adviser: Asst. Prof. ŞAKİR TURAN June, 2018, 140 pages One of the most significant heritage of world history is Hagia Sophia. This significant heritage has been attractive for researchers interested in especially history and other discipline of sciences among the different periods of history. In this study, the results obtained by being investigated some of Ottoman Turkish works which is regarding Hagia Sophia and discovered among Fatih term is presented to scientific discussions. Hagia Sophia, which has its own characteristics, was first built in the 360, it was constructed second time in 415 and became the ultimate state in Justiniaus term. Hagia Sophia has been dearest in all periods and its character has changed many times due to changing of politicians. Constructed as a church at first, Hagia Sophia was exposed to plunder at Latin invasion. It was turned into a mosque at Ottoman term and has reached to now via some strengthening reparations. It is a museum nowadays. This study, which is my master thesis, arised in point of the work of Şemseddin Karamanî "Haze Tarih-i Beyanı Bina-yı Ayasofya-i Kebir", which is one of the manuscripts at Fatih term, and it is investigated with the Ottoman works at Fatih term and later regarding the history of Hagia Sophia. The stages of the construciton of Hagia Sophia are deeply investigated via the knowledge and results obtained by the works, and are presented to scientific discussions.
