A curious translation in Ottoman-Turkish literature: İlhâmî's Ball and Polo Stick translation

Gûy and Çevgân (The Ball and Polo Stick), also known as Hâlnâme, was written by Ârefî (1449) who is an Iranian poet. The love between the prince and the dervish is discussed in this book and it is described in an allegorical style through gûy and çevgân. At the end of the story has turned into divine love. At the beginning of sixteenth century this work for the first time translated by Lamiî Çelebi (1532) to the Ottoman language.İlhâmî who lived in the second half of the same century has translated the work into Ottoman language in a different style. İlhâmî introduced a full translation of the work. He added also his own comments. Examining İhâmî?s translation method constitutes the basis of this study. At that time
