Abstract (EN)
Ottoman Empire, which was one of the sixteen Turk states we have founded through history, and which had a considerable position both in Turkish and World histories, managed to maintain its existence for centuries by ruling many ethnic groups which spread over to a land of 11,4 km2.Ottoman Empire accomplished to enable so many different ethnic groups to live without problems for a long time with the help of the system that they constituted. This system, which was religion-based, divided the society into two main groups; Muslim and non-Muslim. On the other hand, this classification did not turn into a conflict and revealed itself respectfully to the other religions as a necessity of Islam.However, in parallel with the other constitutions of the state, some malfunctions began in this constitution through time. While statesman commenced the studies to clear those present problems, the system of society altered depending on this.This study aims to reveal how were the non-Muslim groups under Ottoman Empire rule affected from the attempts to become modern in Ottoman Empire?s renewal process.Keywords: Non-muslim, Christian, Constitutional monarchy, Otoman, Jewish.
