The Effect of Exercise Training on Individuals with Osteoporotic Vertebral Fracture, Hasan Kalyoncu University, Graduate Education Institute, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, PHD Thesis, Gaziantep 2023. This study aimed to determine the effects of exercise training on pain, quality of life, physical performance, depression, kinesiophobia and pain in individuals with osteoporotic vertebral fractures. It was done to examine the effects on sleep quality. Forty-four patients with osteoporotic vertebral fractures were included in the study. The patients were divided into two groups as exercise training group and control group by simple randomization method. Exercise training consisting of strengthening and balance exercises was given to the exercise training group 2 days a week for 12 weeks. The patients in the control group were asked to continue their activiDeğişmeyen of daily living in the same way. Pain assessment before and after treatment was performed using the Shorth Form McGill Pain Scale. The Osteoporosis-specific QUALEFFO-41 questionnaire was used for quality of life assessment. For physical performance evaluation, a 6-minute walk test was applied. Depression was evaluated with the Beck Depression Scale, functional losses were evaluated with the Oswestry Disability Index, and the fear of movement was evaluated using the Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale. In addition to these evaluations, the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index and Epworth Sleepiness Scale were used to determine the sleep quality and sleepiness of the patients. Pain assessment results showed improvement in both groups, but improvement was determined in every sub-parameter of the questionnaire in the exercise group (p0.01). The effect of the education applied to the patients in the exercise group on increasing the quality of life was higher than the other group (p0.01). Patients in the exercise training group showed better recovery than the control group. The improvement in physical performance, depression, disability, and kinesiophobia was higher in the study group than in the other group (p0.05). Although sleep quality and sleepiness questionnaire scores decreased in the exercise group, results were similar between the groups. (p0.05). It was concluded that the exercise protocol applied was more effective on pain, quality of life, physical performance, depression, disability, kinesiophobia and that the protocol could be included in the treatment programs.
