The effects of the concept of other on Turkey - European Union relations

"Otherness has been going on since the beginnig of the history of mankind.Changging canditions,beliefs,aspects,ideologies and religions as a results of evidences occured in waildwide have changed the "otherness" and added new "others" to pre-others. Humanbeing defines the one that he considers enemy or in the situations of profit clash as other.The opinicn of "otherness" or the view of "otherness" hasn't been only call ussion of ideas when the historical process is examined,because of the otherness,many wars occuredmations and states were destroyed During the Wald War 1 revolution in Soviet Russia reached to a dimension that threaatens other walds states,millionsof people died by Nazism of Hits in wald war 2.these developments let the new others.The world was separeted into different blocks,new constructions such as NATO and VARŞOVA Paktı came into enstence. Ottoman Emperer as a most important power and that is other to Europe completed its turn and gave its place to Republic of Turkey. Apart from these developments,otherness caused social-cultural changes in society.Especially as results of globalizations getting spead, improvement in telecommunication and information technologies a commen culture began to constitute.The values such as human rights,democracy and the equal share of income began to take their portion in this commen culture.Ones who don't want to survive wartime and the disasters that came out of the wars,began to look for social,regional and continental organizations in order to institutionalize the social secure,provide the continuity at peacein world.One of the survey is European Union.It cannot be supposed that Turkey ignores the new organizational development in global area so the ideal of Turkeybeginning with European Economic Community towards the end of the 1950 s,has been continuieing as European Uniun in 2000.But in the process of this 50 years,besides the view about European Union as Christian club and a power exploiting the others of the world,there is also a view as an issue that higten the standart of human rights and liberty, the individual and institutional quality in the name of Kopenhag Criteria. This searc aims to inquisite the change and quality of the viev of other in the frame of Turkey - EU relation and contribute to construct a strong substructure required for foundation of a new relation.
