Investigation of the effect of employees job satisfaction on green organizational behavior in hotel organizations

Businesses are taking actions to ensure environmental sustainability in today's world. These activities involve providing long-lasting facilities that protect the physical environment, recycle waste, and promote sustainable behaviors, thus benefiting future generations. The collective set of sustainable behaviors undertaken within organizations is referred to as "green organizational behavior." There are multiple variables that influence green organizational behavior. Despite limited research, it is noted that there is no study on whether "job satisfaction" affects green organizational behavior. The primary aim of this study is to determine the impact of job satisfaction on green organizational behavior among employees in hotel businesses. Two scales were used in the research: one to measure the level of single-factor job satisfaction and the other, developed by Erbaşı (2019), to measure the five-dimensional level of green organizational behavior, comprising environmental sensitivity, environmental participation, economic sensitivity, green purchasing, and technological sensitivity. The population of the study consisted of employees working in hotel businesses in Afyonkarahisar. A sample was selected from this population, and the research was conducted with 200 employees working in five-star hotels located in Sandıklı district and Afyonkarahisar city. The survey method was preferred in the research, and the job satisfaction and green organizational behavior scales were used in the questionnaire. The data obtained were subjected to confirmatory and exploratory factor analyses, reliability analysis, frequency analyses, t-tests, ANOVA tests, correlation analyses, and simple regression analyses. The findings revealed that the majority of participants had high levels of job satisfaction and green organizational behavior. Additionally, it was concluded that job satisfaction had a positive and significant impact on green organizational behavior and its dimensions.
