Sustainable environmental management in hotels and case of Eski̇şehi̇r

Tourism is one of most attentive socio-economic branch in 21. century. We can say for sustainable tourism principle for contribution to the development of society, regulation of procurement process with sustainable policy, management of energy, management of using water management of waste water, management of waste management and uses chemical, nature and biodiversity etc. With the development of sustainability and eco tourism in tourism the concept of "environmentally hotels" has become increasingly important. The number of hotels that develop sustainable environmental regulation and economic solution that reduce water and energy saving solid wasted and implement recycling and reuse programs and increasing step by step. Therefore, its necessary to establish environmental management system by planning in the waste management, water pollution control, air pollution control and energy efficiency issues of the hotelsand to protect the natural resources by reducing the environmental damage as much as possible. In this study, a fact finding study on environmental management including 28 facilities, which obtained tourism operation license from Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism and 29 facilities, which obtained operation license from Municipalities in Eskişehir has been done and awareness raising by aiming to increase number of environment friendly hotel in the city has been targeted.
