Investigation of automatic storage and retrieval system and application to marble industry

In these days that technology goes ahead too fast, computer controlledmachines and robots are being started to be used instead of man power in productionprogress of factories. Storing of the product produced, tracking the inventory andretrieving the product on request, carry weight. The density of the marble quarriescaused to development of marble industry in Afyonkarahisar and surroundings. Todayalthough automatic storage systems are used for storing of various products, no suchapplication can be seen in the marble industry. During the progress of transportationand storing the marble operated, too many accidents happen in marble factories. Sucha study has been implemented in order to prevent and minimize the mistakes by manfactor and also reduce the cost.In this study it has been obtained to store the marbles in according to their colors.Flexible production system?s AS/RS station in Electricity Education Department ofTechnical Education Faculty has been used in the application. Control of the stationwas provided by S7-300 PLC. SCADA program has been written for storage trackingand to visualize the control of station.
