Özet (EN)
Violence, the intentional use of power, force or authority against oneself, another person or against a group or community that either results in injury or psychological harm. Some individuals in society have tendencies such as violence but in the other hand, some others accept the violence against them. One of the factors that make this difference between tendencies is thought to be prone to using authority. Individuals prone to use authority are defined as the insensitive person who keeps their society one step ahead and includes negative thoughts and sense to the non-members of this society. The group in question are tend to be strictly obeyed against the individuals who deems superior to them. One of the types of violence, which has widespread in recent years, the violence between dating couples which is the application of physical, emotional, sexual and verbal violence. The authoritarian individual may try to control over their partner with the violence applied during flirting relationship. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of authoritarian personality structure on flirting violence. This research is a descriptive cross-sectional study in relational design. The research consists of Çukurova University Medical Faculty first and second year students. The sample of the study consisted of 251 students in the first and second year of medical education in the spring semester of 2017-2018 academic year. The Personal Information Form as a data collection tool was prepared with questions and expressions in the light of literature in order to indicate the behavior that will be developed in case of exposure to the types of flirting violence and their attitudes towards relationships. Violence Tendency Scale and Flirting Attitude Inventory were used to determine the Right Wing Authoritarianism(RWA) and violent tendency of students. The events were mostly defined as emotional violence. The higher the RWA score, the higher the negative attitude towards the flirtation.(A positive correlation was found between them; r=0,71) Lower RWA, higher RWA, total RWA and Flirting Attitude Scores are higher in individuals who reported being exposed to violence than those who did not. Although the Violence Tendency Scale score was higher, there was no statistically significant difference between the groups. There is a statistically significant difference between total RWA score and romantic relationship-flirting groups. (p=0,003).The highest total RWA score was observed in the group who had no romantic relationship before.Total RWA, violent tendency score and flirtation attitude scores were lower in females than males. There is a statistically significant difference between the tendency to violence and gender groups.(p=0,011). The results show that the individuals who are exposed to violence have high authoritarian personality scores and that students do not have any awareness of the events described as violence in literature as flirtation violence.
