They were young language learners at the elementary level of proficiency. At the beginning of the study, 15 target words were selected according to curriculum. A paper, which presents the words via different activities, was prepared by the researcher for each word. The study lasted five weeks. A vocabulary test, which was administered as the pre- and post- test, was used as data collection device. In order to find out if there is a difference between the pre and post tests, t-test was used. At the end of the study interviews were made with the students and they asked what they think about the treatment. The results of the case study indicated that teaching vocabulary through collocations made a significant effect on the learners retention of the words. In other words, the young language learners improved their vocabulary as a result of using collocations. Keywords: Collocation, Vocabulary Retention
