Mounds located in Adana and Osmaniye provinces in the context of Plains of Cilicia (Cilikia Pedias) region

The region named as Cilicia is locatedin the South of Anatolia. This region consists of two parts which are Plain and Rough. Rough Cilicia includes the region starting from Korakeison (Alanya) to Soloi/Pompeiopolis (Viranşehir), while Plain Cilicia extends from Soloi/Pompeiopolis to Alexandreia Kat Isson (İskenderun Gulf) in the east. Because the region known as Plain Cilicia is a flat plain, it is named as Çukurova. Cilicia was settled along the history ages because of both its location and geographical conditions. The main reasons of the settlement of the region are both it has a coast on Mediterranean Sea and especially Plain Cilicia region is flat, has plains and is convenient for settlement. Çukurova named as Plain Cilicia is in the appearance of a closed basin in general whose north is surrounded by mountains. However, because it is located on the routes connecting Middle Anatolia to East Mediterranean and Syria-Mesopotamia, and connecting Mesopotamia to Middle Anatolia, West Anatolia and Aegean world, in fact it is an open area. Thus, Çukurova was influxed by various tribes. Moreover it was a central location to dominate the political forces coming from Middle Anatolia, Mesopotamia or sea. In the context of the aforementioned study, information about the mound settlements included in the topic, located in Adana and Osmaniye provinces in Plains of Cilicia (Kilikia Pedias) region has been presented.
