An analysis on "Tehlikeli Oyunlar" novel in the light of the play concept

The concept of play, appears in many fields; including philosophy, psychology, sociology, educational sciences, mathematics, linguistics and literature. Although the relationship between play and art has been one of the core subjects that caught the attention of important thinkers since ancient times, in modernist and specifically postmodern literature, we observe that new meanings emerged from the concept of play. Oğuz Atay, one of the pioneers of modern Turkish literature, was influenced by avant-garde literary movements and made the concept of play, in both form and content, one of the main fiction elements of his works. In Atay's second novel, "Tehlikeli Oyunlar", we observe that the concept of play has been determined by the author as the origin of the text. It appears to be an extremely important motif, a narrative technique, a structural and fictional feature. In this thesis, "Tehlikeli Oyunlar" will be reviewed with a literary analysis from the perspectives of various opinions and definitions regarding the concept of play that have been revealed over time.
