A study on the relationship between spirituality and psychological resilience of parents with special needs children

The main purpose of the study is to reveal the relationship between the spirituality and psychological resilience of parents who have children with special needs. In addition, it is to examine whether the spirituality and psychological resilience levels of parents with children with special needs differ according to variables such as gender, age, education level, occupation of parents, income status of the family, the type of special needs of the child, the age of the child with special needs, and to offer solutions according to the results. The sample of the research consists of 360 volunteer parents selected by simple random sampling of students in special education schools and inclusion programs in Kütahya in the 2021-2022 academic year. The research was carried out in the relational screening model based on the quantitative approach. Data from the parents participating in the study were collected by applying the "Personal Information Form", "Spirituality Scale" and "Short Psychological Resilience Scale" (KPSS). The obtained data were analyzed with the help of SPSS 22 Statistical Package Program. As a result of the research, it was seen that there was a positive and low level (r=.214) significant (p<.05) relationship between the psychological resilience and spirituality relationship of parents with special needs children. When the research was examined according to socio-economic variables, differentiation and significant relationships were determined in the levels of psychological resilience and spirituality.
