Analysis of human resource management practices in private schools

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine to what extent human resource management practices are implemented in private schools as perceived by school principals and teachers. The sample of this study consists of private schools that are the members of Private Schools Association in stanbul . The sample size of the study is consisted of 52 schools that are randomly selected from 32 districts in stanbul. All the pincipals and teachers in these schools are aimed to be involved in the study. As a total of 505 people, including 441 teachers, 64 principals participated in the study. Data for the study is collected through the questionnaire - `Human Resource Management?- which is developed by Tabancalı in 2004. The questionnaire is composed of 96 items that belong to human resource management practices. The participants of the study are asked to rate to what extent human resource management practices are implemented in schools. To analyze data, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS, 11.5) is used. Standard deviation, frequency, percentage and mean scores are calculated to analyze data. To determine the differences according to job, seniority, function years of school, number of teachers, school variety and human resource administration variables, t-test, one-way ANOVA and LSD tests are used. The result of the study indicates that both principals and teachers have positive aspect about the practices of human resource management but principals have more positive sight.
