Development and evalatuion of enriched activities related to space research for gifted students

The main purpose of this research is to design enriched original activities suitable for the achievements of the Science curriculum for gifted students, to expand their use in support training rooms as well as in many areas, and to create a sample literature study that will ensure the integration of activities into the education field. The aim is to determine the opinions of gifted students in the support education rooms about the use of the activities by bringing together the education of gifted students with disabilities and the education of enriched activities. The study group consisted of 10 teachers working in the support education rooms opened for gifted students in 10 schools in Mersin and its districts in the spring term of the 2022-2023 academic year, and 36 7th grade students studying in the support education rooms, in this study, mixed method research was used as a design. convergent parallel pattern was used. While the pretest-posttest experimental design was used in the quantitative dimension of the scientific investigation, convergent parallel design study was used in the qualitative dimension. In the 10-week study, the Solar System and Beyond / Earth and Universe unit developed by the researcher for Space Research Achievement Test [UAKYBT], My Classroom Activities Scale [SEO], Interview approach forms (Semi-structured interview forms), Video and Photo recordings were used to obtain data. was used as a tool. The data obtained from [UAKYBT] and [SEO] were analyzed with SPSS 24.0 package program. Interview approach forms and video and photographic recordings were analyzed with content analysis and descriptive analysis. As a result of the analyzes made, it was revealed that the [SEO] applications provided a positive increase in the academic achievement and attitudes of the 7th grade gifted students in space exploration. In addition, there have been positive changes in the opinions of gifted students about the Science course taught in the support education rooms.
