Investigation of the problems faced by students at amateur music education institutions

The aim of this study is to identify the problems faced by students and parents in amateur music education institutions and to provide recommendations for solving these problems. A qualitative research design was used and interviews were conducted with 10 students and 10 parents who were receiving music education at a amateur music education institution in the Turhal district of Tokat province. The views of students and parents were collected using a semi-structured interview form. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis technique. As a result of the study, it was found that students receiving amateur music education experience problems related to teachers and the curriculum, as well as equipment and physical infrastructure. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that educators providing instrument education in amateur music education institutions should improve themselves, education and teaching should be carried out in a planned and programmed manner, an appropriate curriculum should be implemented for students of different levels, and efforts should be made to provide a suitable physical environment for education and teaching activities.
